Chinatown - Engagement Session

Last week I met Jennifer and David in Chinatown for some sweet engagement photos. I always recommend shooting in a location that represents the couple and their interests. In this case Jennifer had been going to the Grand Star Jazz Club for years and she suggested we shoot in Chinatown. One objective for the shoot was to incorporate the lights of Chinatown into the backgrounds of the photos once the sun set. To achieve that goal, I brought out my Profoto lighting gear and used a single softbox. I'm stoked on the last shot with the Chinatown neon sign.

Rancho Palos Verdes - Engagement Session

I had the pleasure of photographing Ali and Farah last Saturday evening in Los Angeles. They were in town from New York making plans for their wedding, and squeezed in some time for a shoot. It was a blast to get to know them and their family. An engagement session is a great asset to begin the process of client expectations for their wedding photos. The emails and phone calls yesterday confirmed their excitement when I posted the slideshow for them to preview. I hope you'll enjoy it too:)

Santa Monica Pier - Engagement Session

Last friday afternoon I met Ashley and Jason at The Santa Monica Pier. We had planned to shoot what they love to do together, which is exercise. This couple has stamina. They really worked out. They climbed ropes, hung from rings, did pull ups and climbed more ropes. I had asked them if we could also do some playful activities on the Pier. They obliged. Here are a selection of my faves from the day.

Jessica and Chris Engagement Session

There is no doubt that Jessica and Chris like to have fun. Chris keeps it really interesting with an incredibly wide variety of expressions. They are easy going and easy to photograph. We spent a few hours last week shooting through San Juan Capistrano (my hood) and the Mission grounds. Enjoy!
