Many of you may not know that I used to play the drums when I was a kid. Recently, I found "Hard Attack" (channel 27 on Sirius radio) and there are some amazing drummers playing speed metal. I can't listen for too long any more or my driving gets more aggressive than it already is.
This video is a great combination of talent and humor for us "peter pan" types who refuse to grow up. Rock on office dude. Enjoy as long as you can:)
Here is the trailer for those of you who missed this one before the Awards Night ceremony. I have a small supporting role as "Joey". Ron Dawson rocks this one again!
Wow! Those of you who have known me for a long time, know how much I'm interested in how our brains work. My wife was sent this link from a friend and she sent it to me to watch. It's a compelling 19 minutes long. This is a truly amazing story and an idea worth spreading.
Right Brain People Rejoice and be Happy! Left Brain People....move to the Right.
This first video "Yes We Can" brings multimedia, music and politics together to entertain and uplift.
This "john.he.is" video made me laugh and cry as I think about the future of our country and that John McCain could be our next President. Just Watch, it gives you chills.
I'm so excited about Episode 2 of my ongoing web-saga. I've got an incredibly talented supporting cast and a director, writer, producer, screenwriter, editor that makes me look good. (Thanks Ron). Keep the PR going. Embed this Episode on your blog and fill out this form for free admission to WPPI 2009! Killer deal.
Well it’s here. The premiere you’ve all been waiting for. Episode 1 of “Diary of a Washed Up Rock Star Wedding Photographer.” In the episode, Skip learns that his abysmal ratings from last year’s award show means WPPI has to bring back Joe Photo and Michele Celentano to host. Joe in his despair has ended up in a dead-end job.
Spread the Love and Gain Free Admission to WPPI 2009
WPPI has come up with an incredible offer to those of you willing to share this hilarious series. Anyone who posts this or episode 2 on their blog or website will gain free admission to WPPI 2009. No, that’s not a typo. You’ll gain FREE admission to next year’s convention and tradeshow. And it’s going to be the biggest one ever. It will be the first year WPPI will be at the MGM grand. It’s going to be huge!
But wait…there’s more! Whichever posted set of videos (for both episodes 1 and 2) gets the most unique views, that person will get FIVE FREE ADMISSIONS to WPPI 2009. That’s right. You and four of your friends will be able to get into the largest wedding and portrait convention and expo absolutely free of charge.
HOW TO POST
Posting is easy. In any video player for an episode, click on the “embed this video” icon (it’s the second one in the bottom right-hand corder of the player). Select the “embed” tab, copy the code, then past into your blog or website. It’s that easy. Then share your blog post with your friends and colleagues. We’ll be monitoring the views from each posted video. If your total views for both episodes 1 and 2 rack up the most unique views, you and four friends get free admission. Note: watching the videos over and over on your computer won’t work. So don’t try to cheat. We’ll know if they’re legitimate unique views.
What better way to spread the word of WPPI and spread some laughter at the same time. Don’t you just feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it?!

Without further ado, here’s episode 1 of “Diary of a Washed Up Rock Star Wedding Photographer.” (Running time: 11:46).
My buddy Joe Barnet sent this my way yesterday. The humor was good and it made me laugh, and feel bummed at the same time. There is no exit in sight.... how true.

After we've all eaten so much at Christmas, it's time to get up and move around a bit. Most people will start to get back into the gym in January. Might I suggest an alternative. Try dancing. I love dancing, and this video made me smile. You burn tons of calories dancing...my problem is adding them back on in drinks while I'm dancing. OK so it's a wash. Have fun today! I'm going dancing...
This year I thought instead of just showing one or two pictures in our Christmas cards (which will be going out soon) I thought I would share several great times throughout our year with the wonderful people who bless us with their friendship. Here's a glimpse into the "Photo Family" year. Enjoy.
13 days of shopping left before Christmas! For all of you (like me) who wait until the last minute to buy your gifts, here's one final chance to score a great gift for yourself or a loved one. Back by popular demand, get Show & Tell 2 for 40% off TODAY ONLY! When you check out of the Kart enter the word xmas for your promo code discount. We'll ship it priority mail to you on Thursday. Merry Christmas to you all! May your New Year be blessed with abundant creativity and joy.
Many of you by now know that I love movies. My brother-in-law, Daniel, turned my on to the trailer for Cloverfield at Thanksgiving. It just keeps getting better. I'm amazed at how video and film are impacting our perceptions and entertaining us at the same time. Check it out and be inspired. Happy weekend:)
This is a great way to share your images and ideas with the world. Check out this killer piece from Daniel W Coburn. Hhhhmmmmm, what will I create for YouTube? Tune in January 2008. I'll create something to share. What about you?
It appears that Tyler Sheilds had less time to get this shot than I do to capture a couples' first kiss as husband and wife. You thought weddings were tough....
I know, I know. I've been on a video kick this past week. But some things are better conveyed on video.
I got back for a long bike ride and had been listening to Jack Canfield speaking about finding your passion. I love this topic. I've felt for a long time very blessed that I have found mine. I was pulling up to my house when a few of my totally cute little neighbors were outside "Dancing for Destiny". They decided to raise money by doing something they loved - dancing!
You know, we adults could really learn a thing or two from the children around us about finding our passions. I am a firm believer that the Kingdom of Heaven is filled with those who have a childlike heart. Where is your heart? I'm grateful for the reminder and purity of "Dancing for Destiny". Enjoy!
Special thanks to Tara, Natalie, Mia and Emily for their joy and their passion.

Found this video on YouTube and thought, "where is the wedding photographer"? Then I read the description - dancing past 2 am at the wedding reception one year ago this weekend. That explains it. Savor the moment. Enjoy.
This is actually a very cool idea. I wish I was involved in the shooting. It's so hard to draw attention to a cause these days. This video has nudity on a glacier to make a statement. That's awesome. The only element that could have drawn more attention is if they could have enlisted the backsides of Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Gore out there too. Nevertheless, global warming is happening friends. If a large group of you want to undress up in Big Bear this winter, I volunteer to shoot it:)
I really cannot say it enough. Be childish as often as possible. I pride myself on immaturity, and my life is generally very happy as a result. I'm still processing how being a big kid in Russia has changed my life. Then I got a phone call. My roommate Bill Goodrich from the trip (does video) and he sent me this clip yesterday.
I should begin by stating a few facts.
1. I pretty much suck at sports. Seriously.
2. Russian kids are great at soccer!
3. I have a slight height advantage.
Now, prepare to see one of my proudest soccer moments...ever!
On this July 4th holiday I'm so excited about my newfound freedom.... to Vlog. I really believe that this may be the best way for me to communicate my thoughts to the world. (It also helps that I have experience with video and I'm not exactly shy in front of the camera).
May you celebrate the freedoms that you enjoy today, and everyday in our abundantly blessed country!!
Check this out. I had just done my last slide show at the 3rd orphanage and Dasha, one of the translators, asks if she can show a slideshow to us of images and design she's created over the past year. This is what she showed us. (be patient, the images start after about 30 seconds) Click below to play. Enjoy.
Some days you just need to smile:) Today may be that day. I found this last night on You Tube. I love that just about anybody can publish on the web. Enjoy!
Two nights ago, Ingrid had fallen asleep early and our 12 year old daughter, Mikayla, and I went downstairs to brew some peach tea and hang out. While we waited for the water to boil, we searched YouTube for a funny video to share a laugh. This was the first video we found and we laughed together and watched it a few times. It's possible that I was amused because it was - a) late and I was slap happy, b) in a giggly mood with my daughter, or c) I really am soooo immature that this seems funny. Whatever it is, laughter is great for the mind and body. So if you find this little puppet play funny, share it with a loved one and laugh together. Remember how fun it was to play puppets? Enjoy your day:)
Since I was a kid, I've dreamed of being a rock star. I've always enjoyed playing the drums, but I found my true love in photography! So I've merged the two dreams and they've become my reality. I'm so excited that I have such excellent clients like Gary and Francesca that allow me to pursue my passion! I had such a blast shooting them. Dreams do come true, so dream big! Huge props to Alex and Julie at Elysium Productions for creating the perfect piece for me. Thank you:) Smile like you mean it!
If you missed the awards night intro this year, you can see it here, right now. Well friends, Ron Dawson made me look like I could actually kinda act. Being in front of the camera is MUCH more difficult than being behind it. This video was so fun to do! I'd like to thank Ron (it was his idea) and his lovely wife Tasra, my favorite San Francisco brutha Brook Todd (You're money baby) and Skip Cohen and all the staff at WPPI for giving my the best two nights of my life hosting the awards night banquet:) I love all you guys, and I'm not just sayin' it because I want to host again. Oh and thanks also to what's her name...
A couple of years ago, we had a dog and a new video camera, so I did what I always do. I revert back to my creative child and I think up ways to have fun. I recommend this procedure to anyone bogged down with the responsibilities of adult life. You only have one life to live so start enjoying it today! Have a great weekend!
